Safety Breakaway Couplings

Breakaway couplings are safety components used to prevent one of the most serious safety hazards in the process of loading fluid media: the unwanted and disproportionate tensile load on the load line, caused, for example, when tanker trucks and rail tank wagons move off too soon or by ships drifting. Such tensile loads can mechanically damage or even destroy both the connection points and the load line itself, which can even lead to uncontrolled leaks of the media being loaded, posing a corresponding hazard to people and the environment.

ABV and ABVL Series Safety Breakaway Couplings ABV

ABV breakaway couplings prevent accidents by protecting hoses or pipework from excessive load, including non-axial forces which can reduce the breaking strain of a hose. When the coupling separates, a valve in each side closes automatically, preventing product loss or spillage.

ABV-S Series Safety Breakaway Couplings ABV-S

ABV-S breakaway couplings ensure safe loading and unloading when fluids are being transferred to or from road, rail or ship tankers. The mechanically activated coupling separation which occurs when the distance between the coupling and the fixed installation exceeds the limit of the safety cable protects the hose from damage from excess stretch or strain.

ASVL Series Safety Breakaway Couplings RS_AVSL_Coupling

The breakaway coupling of the ASVL series guards against an industrial accidents. It protects the hose or flanged systems such as pipes from too much of a burden, even in the case of non-axial burdens. The separation occurs via a path-controlled load cable that has to be shorter than the connected hose. After the separation, the valves close and prevent the medium from escaping from the hose and tube side and in this way protect both people and the environment.
